Rotogravure Printing

Rotogravure printing is based on the process of transferring ink from a sunken printing plate to paper. The design to be printed is etched below the surface of the plate. At the start of the process, the ink is spread over the plate and then wiped clean while it remains present on the engraved parts.

Next, the plate is pressed against the paper, and the sunken but inked parts are printed against the paper. The material printed in the rotogravure printing is prepared as a positive film. A rotogravure plate is made of copper and accepts the photochemical transfer through a gravure screen.
