All mats offered by MyMat are made in Germany. They are washable, easy to care for and made from high-quality materials. The wraparound rubber lip and non-slip rubber gaps ensure a plan to lie down and safely stop on almost all floor coverings. At MyMat, their aim is to reflect the individuality and personality for their customers through products they supply. At MyMat anyone can design and order their personal doormat online.

The Localization And Internationalization Supported By Both Website And Design Studio Will Help MyMat To Expand Their Geographical Customer Base.


During 2012-13, company planned to stop using their CMS website and wanted to setup their online eCommerce store. They chose Magento platform for its versatility. They always wanted to avoid a design tool built on Flash, but could not find a suitable Non-Flash design tool ready for integration. Hence, they were forced to integrate an “old fashioned” editor into their Magento 1 website. This resulted in limited customer base, low profit margin and limited product catalog support.

After constantly looking for a Magento based HTML5 design editor, they finally found DESIGN’N’BUY in 2016.

As MyMat caters to a very niche product offering, it was important to understand all aspects of the business and develop a bespoke design studio that’s super easy to use and works on all browsers with support for mobile devices. Simplify the process of ordering custom-made mats for their customers was of paramount importance.

Solution Offered

A face to face meeting at Drupa 2016 in Dusseldorf, Germany helped both teams to discuss project requirements in detail and sign-off on project scope.

The website was built on Magento 1.9.x eCommerce platform and the bespoke non-flash design studio (HTML5, JavaScipt, CSS) we developed for MyMat consisted lots of exclusive features. For example, customers can choose a mat to personalize from numerous available sizes and formats. Special formats such as round doormats, floor mats in heart shape, or oval entrance mats can also be easily designed by themselves. They can also choose from attractive background patterns on different topics and design a doormat for the kitchen, children’s room carpets, entrance mats, mats for balcony and terrace according to your lifestyle. Customers also get access to various motifs and symbols in different categories for example romantic, modern, abstract, elegant or country house style to decorate their doormats.

However, MyMat was not able to use the whole functionality of Magento decided to migrate to Magento 2.

Lother Amm, Owner says – “Based on the philosophy of “never stop a running system”, we wanted to keep our old system alive as long as possible. So, we waited until Magento 2 was grown up and decided to dare the big step of developing the future of personalizing doormats by internationalisation and offering a marketplace for doormat designers and doormat resellers.”

In 2018, MyMat decided to migrate to Magento 2 platform to enhance the functionality, to use it for other products, for internationalisation and to offer a marketplace that many of their customers asked for, including the responsive design of the editor. It was finally agreed to adopt ALL-IN-ONE WEB2PRINT solution with DESIGNER MODULE and customize it as per client’s business requirements. Introduction of designer marketplace concept will help in crowd sourcing of designs with external designer registration on website. Customers can browse ready and editable designs from number of designers and choose to personalize anyone that matches their need and style. Designers can make money on commissions earned through sell of their designs. The new website is soon going to be launched with better than ever user experience and convenience of ordering personalized mats online.
